At twelve, he was selected to perform the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, K.467 with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.

MICHAEL LEE is 14 years old and is an eighth grader in Odle Middle School, Bellevue, WA. He has been a piano student of Prof. Willard Schultz since 2001. He gave his first live radio performance on KING FM at age ten. At twelve, he was selected to perform the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, K.467 with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra. On June 8th, he will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor as a featured soloist with the Sammamish Symphony. Michael has twice been selected as the MTNA Baldwin Junior Piano competition winner to compete at Division level, and has three times represented Seattle Music Teachers Association in the State Conventions. He has also three times been selected in the Chopin Competition to perform in the festival recital and this year was awarded first place in his category in the Bach Festival. He has been fortunate to have been selected to participate in master classes with Scott McBride Smith in the Portland International Piano Festival, with Nelita True in a State convention, Steven Spooner in a District Conference, Andrew Armstrong in Bellevue Philharmonic master class, and with Jane McGrath in MTNA National Convention. His participation always results in praise for his artistry in performance and musical understanding as well as his intelligent ability to learn and adapt. Besides his musical interests, Michael is a nationally ranked chess master.
